On the awards show front, the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror’s 34th Annual Saturn Awards were held in Los Angeles this week. What happened in the movie categories you ask? The Disney flick Enchanted picked up three trophies winning in the Best Fantasy Film, Best Actress for Amy Adams and Best Music categories. Other winners included;

As a side note, I really have no idea why Ratatouille is receiving so many awards. Personally I did not think it was a strong movie, nor did the script hang together extremely well. But, someone liked it. I don’t even think it did very well at the box office.
Moving along to some nostalgia — in a tribute to the late George Carlin, Saturday Night Live will re-broadcast the shows premiere episode from October 11, 1975 this weekend. George Carlin was the host of that first SNL episode. This one just might land on my TiVo list. Saturday Night Live has been around for 33 years, and the first few years were the best. That’s when they were funny and actually worked for their humor. These days the writers are sophomoric and have little to no clue how to write funny humor. Instead they stick with the high school locker room genre of rude and crude going after the quick laugh.
So, if you’ve never experienced a real Saturday Night Live show, this weekend might be well worth your while.
Enjoy the show!
