Various Entertainment Notes

If your desk looks like mine, you may have little stacks of paper neatly placed around the desktop. Of course there comes a time when we need to look through the stacks and see what’s needed, and of course, what’s not needed. As I started sorting through my stacks of paper this morning I came across some entertainment notes I’ve been saving. Sometimes I share these stories on my Google Reader Shared Stories page. But this morning, I figured I’d share some of the odds and ends here.

1) Dark Knight Paying Tribute To Heath Ledger
The much anticipated Dark Knight, the newest installment in the Batman series, hits the big screen next week. Many said before his death Heath Ledger put in his best performance as the Joker. Now that he’s gone, even more people are paying tribute to Ledger. He may be gone, but he’s not forgotten. Warner Brothers recently announced that the end credits of The Dark Knight will include a tribute to Heath Ledger. Conway Wickliffe, a special effects technician who died while working on a stunt during the film’s shoot last September, will also be remembered in the closing credits. The closing credit tribute will read — “In memory of our friends Heath Ledger & Conway Wickliffe.”

2) Who’s Your Favorite Clown?
One of the men who made Bozo the Clown a household name has died. Larry Harmon, who played Bozo for decades, died this month of congestive heart failure at the age of 83. Harmon not only played the famous clown, but he also owned the Bozo name and licensed it to television stations across the country. Those stations then hired their own clowns whom they then named Bozo. Of course the most famous of those programs aired on Chicago’s WGN-TV for 40 years.

3) Cindy Brady Should Know Better
Carol Brady would not approve of this kind of behavior from one of her kids. Former Brady Bunch actress Susan Olsen, a.k.a. Cindy Brady, came close to throwing up during a videotaped studio interview with a radio station in Colorado Springs last week because of an apparent hangover. The 46 year old Olsen, who was promoting an area appearance in Colorado Springs, blamed a friend of hers. During the morning interview she said, “Chris got me so wasted last night, and I’m so ready to vomit on the microphone.” She then quickly ran out of the studio. By the way, her 12 year old son was also with her during the interview. Great parental guidance there.
