There’s a movie coming out this weekend, Friday, September 5, that’s starting on a limited release, but should expand very quickly. At least I think it should expand very quickly.
Everybody Wants to be Italian is an incredible movie released by Roadside Attractions. Written and directed by Jason Todd Ipson, this is a funny and thoughtful movie providing insights into love and the Italian culture. Ipson is a brilliant writer who knows how to work for his humor and not stoop to potty humor. It’s been a long time since my wife and I have laughed out loud through an entire movie. Everybody Wants to be Italian did indeed keep us laughing through the entire flick.
Everybody Wants to be Italian is categorized as a romantic comedy. But, it’s a romantic comedy with a twist. Instead of casting a group of ladies looking for love, we have guys talking about true love. It’s here we find the genius of the movie which truly crosses the gender barrier connecting the chick-flick genre with the macho-guy genre. This is not your everyday run of the mill love story. Instead it’s a delicate dance of two worlds coming together, searching for true love, without all the cliche trappings.
As the title of this blog entry says, this is a movie review teaser. A more complete review will come out later this week, but for now I do want to wet your appetite for this upcoming flick. Last week I had an exclusive interview with Jay Jablonski, who stars as Jake in the movie, and you can listen to it here.
Enjoy the show!
