Big Day For Batman Fans

The Dark Knight Now Available On DVD

The biggest movie of the year is now available on DVD.

As of December 7 Box Office Mojo reports the Caped Crusader has pulled in $530,540,885 domestically. Worldwide the cash register total hits $996,482,559. Not bad for a movie with a production budget of $185 million. Some outlets got a jump on The Dark Knight video craze opening at midnight so the die-hard Batman fans could boast being the first in line to own the Gotham City blockbuster. As for me, I did not stand in line at midnight. My son works at FYE so I had him put me on a reserve list a number of weeks ago. While I really enjoyed the movie, I didn’t feel the urge to watch it at midnight as soon as it came out on DVD.

Do you know anyone who grabbed up The Dark Knight at midnight? Did you happen to stand in line for a midnight purchase? If you did, I’d love to know why so please leave a comment on this post.

So, are there extras on the DVD? Of course…

The Dark Knight Single & Two Disc Editions

The Dark Knight featured Christian Bale as Batman and the late Heath Ledger as the Joker. There’s already much speculation that Ledger will win a number of awards for his stellar performance. The Batman Begins sequel is available in both a single-disc edition and a two-disc special edition. The latter includes featurettes, photo galleries and a digital copy of the film. The Blu-ray version of The Dark Knight allows you to connect with fellow Dark Knight fans online.

As a refresher, when the movie came out in July of this year here are links to two posts I did on Frame by Frame then.

Also announced this week, Warner Brothers will re-release The Dark Knight to IMAX theaters on January 23, 2009.

And, just in case you’re wondering, and just in case your not a Batman fan, here’s a list of other movies released this week on DVD.

Enjoy the show!
