What’s New In Theaters
Friday, January 9, 2009

Not much opened last Friday as it was the New Year’s weekend. But, this weekend, we have three new movies, and one expanding in a big way. In no particular order, here’s what’s opening up on the big screen this weekend.

Bride Wars – PG – Opening on 3,226 screens
Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson are best friends who develop an unfriendly rivalry when their weddings are accidentally scheduled for the same date. Candice Bergen and Kristen Johnston also star.

The Unborn – PG-13 – Opening on 2,356 screens
A young woman is haunted by a family curse that started in Nazi Germany. And, just for good measure, the ghost of her unborn twin is also bothering her. Cloverfield actress Odette Yustman and The Dark Knight’s Gary Oldman also star.

Not Easily Broken – PG-13 – 724 screens
A couple’s marriage is tested when the wife is severly injured in a car crash. Morris Chestnut and Taraji P. Henson star.

And expanding into wide release…

Gran Torino – Rated R – 2,808 screens
This flick is expanding in a big way! Clint Eastwood is receiving rave reviews for his performance as a racist Korean War vet who forms an unlikely bond with an Asian teen who’s pressured into stealing his prized possession, a 1972 Gran Torino. Clint Eastwood also directs this flick which is expanding from 5 screens to a whopping 2,808.
