Dollar Conscious Sex & The City Gals

Rumors Are No More!

It’s official, a sequel to last year’s Sex and the City movie will indeed become a reality. A spokeswoman for New Line Cinema has confirmed all four stars – Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, have signed on for another film. Director Michael Patrick King has also signed on to the sequel which is expected to hit theaters in the summer of 2010.

No script has been written yet but…
They do want to be recession conscious.

A “Massive Romp” Scaled Back

Even Carrie Bradshaw is vulnerable to the global recession. According to Sarah Jessica Parker, the producers of the Sex and the City sequel plan to be sensitive to the world’s economic problems when writing the script for the upcoming film. Parker, whose character Carrie was married to Mr. Big in last year’s Sex and the City film, said they need to figure out how to “address these economic times in a franchise that has a lot to do with luxury and labels.”

Parker went on to say the producers want the sequel to be a “massive romp” after the first movie told a “mature, sophisticated story.” But, Parker feels they also need to strike a balance along the way. And, if you’re wondering, Parker is remaining tight-lipped as to what the future may have in store for Carrie and Mr. Big.
