Spider-Man 4 & Other Comic Superheroes

Remake, sequel – remake, sequel – remake, sequel.

It’s true, at least when it comes to Hollywood, there’s nothing new under the sun. If you watch enough movies, you quickly discover similar theme threads running through most flicks. Hollywood also finds itself stuck in a remake or sequel trap. This weekend two of the three new movies opening on the big screen are remakes!

However, sometimes Hollywood should leave well enough alone. They announce no more sequels, but suddenly when the final movie of the so-called franchise makes big money, Hollywood changes its mind!

One such mind change should stop! In my opinion…
the Spider-Man franchise should be left alone.

Spider-Man fans, mark your calendars!

Sony and Marvel Studios have announced the official theatrical release date for Spider-Man 4 is set for May 6, 2011. Sam Raimi will once again direct the flick. It’s also rumored Tobey MaGuire and Kirsten Dunst will return for their roles as well.

Other big announcements came from Marvel too. At the same time the Spider-Man release was announced, Marvel also announced it’s pushing back the release date of The Avengers by a full ten months, from July 15, 2011 to May 4, 2012. Marvel said the scheduling move makes The Avengers the culmination of a series of upcoming superhero movies.

Other flicks in the comic book superhero genre include – Iron Man 2 with a scheduled release date of May 7, 2010, followed by Thor on June 17, 2011. Finally, The First Avenger: Captain America is set to hit the big screen on July 22, 2011.

That’s a lot of superheroes!

Enjoy the show!
