Mourning The Loss of Patrick Swayze
As reported yesterday…
Patrick Swayze passed away at the age of 57 on Monday
RIP: Patrick Swayze
Now it’s time for tributes to an incredible actor. It did not take long for those tributes to come in from some of Hollywood’s finest. Swayze will be remembered for many things. An incredible acting career and an amazing battle with pancreatic cancer. While many lose such a battle quickly, Swayze battled the sickness for 20 months. He refused to simply lay down. He worked right up until the end. I’m sure his performance in the A&E drama The Beast from last year will soon become a classic series. It’s too bad A&E decided to cancel the show after just one season. Not only did Swayze deserve better, but the show deserved better as it was gritty and showcased Swayze’s talent well – especially in the face of sickness.
Among those paying tribute to Swayze from Hollywood – Demi Moore, Rob Lowe, Gary Busey and more!
Hollywood Tributes
Dirty Dancing Co-Star – Jennifer Grey
Told People magazine: “When I think of him, I think of being in his arms when we were kids, dancing, practicing the lift in the freezing lake, having a blast doing this tiny little movie we thought no one would ever see.” She added Swayze was a “real cowboy with a tender heart” and “it was not surprising to me that the war he waged on his cancer was so courageous and dignified. Patrick was a rare and beautiful combination of raw masculinity and amazing grace. My heart goes out to his wife and childhood sweetheart, Lisa Niemi, to his mom, Patsy, and to the rest of their family.”
Ghost Co-Star – Whoopi Goldberg
“Patrick was a really good man, a funny man and one to whom I owe much that I can’t ever repay. I believe in Ghost’s message, so he will always be near.”
Ghost Co-Star – Demi Moore
On her Twitter feed wrote, “And in the words of Sam to Molly, ‘It’s amazing Molly. The love inside, you take it with you.’ I love and will miss you Patrick.”
Demi Moore’s husband – Ashton Kutcher
Tweeted “RIP P Swayze” and posted a link to a clip of Swayze’s famous Saturday Night Live sketch in which he competed for a job as a Chippendales dancer against the late Chris Farley.
C. Thomas Howell
Who co-starred with Swayze in The Outsiders, Grandview U.S.A. and Red Dawn: “I have always had a special place in my heart for Patrick…Not only did we lose a fine actor, I lost my older Outsiders brother.”
Fellow Outsiders star Rob Lowe

Ralph Macchio
Who also starred in The Outsiders said “Patrick fought the ultimate fight as passionate as he embraced his life – with strength, dignity and grace. His love of his work and family was inspirational. He touched so many…I am proud to have shared in his journey…Remembering my fellow greaser. Stay Gold, buddy.”
Point Break Co-Star Gary Busey
“Patrick Swayze was a kindred spirit and a spiritual brother of mine. His focus was center target and his purpose was with faith, kindness, grace, understanding and love.”
Travis Fimmel
Who appeared with Swayze on the A&E series The Beast said “He was an inspiration, a gentleman and I was blessed to have worked with him and even more blessed to have called him my friend. My heartfelt condolences go out to his wife Lisa and their family.”
A statement from A&E
“We are saddened by the loss of one of our generation’s greatest talents and a member of the A&E family. Patrick’s work on The Beast was an inspiration to us all. He will be greatly missed and our thoughts are with his wife Lisa and his entire family during this difficult time.”

Swayze will be missed.
