A Dismal Weekend For New Movies!
Unless you like Vince Vaughn, I would strongly suggest you stay away from the new movie choices this weekend. Actually, there’s only one new movie opening in wide release. The only other movie getting name mention is another sure to be dropped from the big screen flick category quickly with Chris Rock. His documentary is opening in a limited release platform.
So, what will be big this weekend?
As the Beach Boys once sang, “God Only Knows”. Will Zombieland continue to rule? Will some Meatballs hit the top spot again. Or, will Vince Vaughn and his cast of idiots debut in the number one spot.
Opening This Weekend
Couples Retreat – PG-13 on 3,000 screens
Vince Vaughn gets more than just rest and relaxation when he travels to a tropical island in this movie. He and his wife, played by Watchmen’s Malin Akerman, are unexpectedly forced into relationship counseling with three other couples with whom they’re friends. As part of the retreat they’re forced to take part in humiliating exercises that are supposed to help them grow closer to their mates. Jason Bateman, Kristen Bell, Jon Favreau and Kristin Davis also star.
Good Hair – PG-13 on 185 screens
Among the movies opening in limited release today is this Chris Rock documentary. It’s a flick examining how African-American hairstyles influence the lives of the black community. Nia Long, Ice-T, Raven Symone and the Reverend Al Sharpton are among the celebrities who make appearances.
Avoid disappointment and see something old this weekend!
