Ferrell Tops List Of Most Overpaid Stars

According to Forbes magazine, Will Ferrell is a “lost” cause
at the box office.

The Land of the Lost star leads the magazine’s list of Hollywood’s top 10 most overpaid stars. Forbes calculated that Ferrell’s films earned an average of $3.29 for every dollar he was paid. For example, the report makes note of the fact that Land of the Lost, a major flop this past summer, earned just $65 million worldwide, despite an estimated budget of $100 million.

Really now, did we need Forbes to tell us this? I’ve been saying it for years. Will Ferrell is a no-talent-hack who hasn’t had anything worth watching since the 2003 release of Elf. Oh wait, I take that back. The one and only 5 Lloyd movie for us, which is a perfect score, was the 2006 Curious George movie. Of course we also said the only way to see Will Ferrell is as a cartoon. In Curious George he was working with a very tight script and little to no ad-lib space. As a result, it worked.

But, other than that, Will Ferrell is simply an actor trying to live off his so-called Saturday Night Live fame. He has no creativity and only knows how to go for the quick and easy laugh involving vulgar situations and body noises. Lets not forget his fascination for kissing guys on screen. Will Ferrell wouldn’t know family-friendly if it snuck up behind him and said “boo!”

Who gets the best “bang for the buck”…

The Best Hollywood Buy

After pointing out that Will Ferrell is a waste of money, by comparison, Forbes also put out their Best Actors For The Buck list in August. Topping that list, Shia LaBeouf. For ever dollar LaBeouf was paid, his films earned an average of $160!

To create their list of Overpaid Stars Forbes considered actors and actresses who have starred in at least three movies, excluding animated flicks, in the past five years. The movies also had to open in more than 500 theaters. The magazine then took into account each star’s estimated earnings versus his or her films’ budgets, box office results and DVD earnings.

Here’s the Forbes list of Hollywood’s Top 10 Most Overpaid Stars, with the average total each actor or actress’ films made for every dollar he or she was paid…

  1. Will Ferrell – $3.29
  2. Ewan McGregor – $3.75
  3. Billy Bob Thornton – $4.00
  4. Eddie Murphy – $4.43
  5. Ice Cube – $4.77
  6. Tom Cruise – $7.18
  7. Drew Barrymore – $7.43
  8. Leonardo DiCaprio – $7.52
  9. Samuel L. Jackson – $8.59
  10. Jim Carrey – $8.62

Another “no big surprise” from the above list – Billy Bob Thornton and Eddie Murphy. Again, they wouldn’t know good humor or good movies if their lives depended on it.
