Thanksgiving Weekend Movie Openings!
Welcome to Thanksgiving Weekend!
This week’s new movies open a few days early because of the Thanksgiving holiday. Will Twilight’s New Moon continue its reign at the top of the box office? Will Michael Jackson sneak back into the top 10 for his final weekend on the big screen? Will the weekend be a disaster with a 2012 resurgence?
Or….
Will some Old Dogs make their way to the top of the box office heap by weekends end. Two movies make a wide release appearance on the big screen while another starts in limited release and yet a third expands onto more screens.
New Movies On Big Screen
Old Dogs – PG on 3,425 screens
John Travolta and Robin Williams area pair of bachelors who suddenly become the guardians of seven year old twins. Of course that leads to a series of interesting and fun events. This movie has Travolta co-starring with his wife, Kelly Preston and daughter Ella Bleu. The cast also includes Seth Green, Matt Dillon and Justin Long.
Ninja Assassin – Rated R on 2,503 screens
An assassin seeks revenge against a secret society that trained him and killed his best friend. South Korean actor-singer Rain and Naomie Harris star.
Limited Release & Expanding
The Road – Rated R on 111 screens
The big-screen adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize winning Cormac McCarthy novel stars Viggo Mortensen as a man who, with his son, travels the country after it’s devastated by an unexplained catastrophe. Charlize Theron and Robert Duvall also star.
The Fantastic Mr. Fox – PG on 2,033
The titular character is a fox who has every intention of out-foxing three farmers who want to capture him and his family. George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman and Owen Wi lend their voices to the animated film It’s based on a story by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory author Roald Dahl.
