Not Much New On The Big Screen
Hollywood says there are four new movies opening this weekend. But, when it comes to quality, the new flicks are very limited in that area. As a matter of fact, three of the four which might be considered wide release are barely opening on 2,000 screens.
In other words, even Hollywood knows
the pickins’ are slim for this weekend.
Before getting to the list of new movies for this weekend, I want to give you a couple of my picks for the weekend. I suggest avoiding the new movies and possibly taking in one of the following movies…
While I did not screen the movie, the only new flick that looks like it might be remotely interesting is the new Robert DeNiro flick entitled Everybody’s Fine. But, even that’s a remake of an old movie.
New Movies This Weekend
Everybody’s Fine – PG-13 on 2,133 screens
Robert DeNiro is a widower who decides to go on a road trip to visit his four adult children from whom he’s grown distant. Drew Barrymore, Kate Beckinsale and Sam Rockwell also star in this remake of a 1990 Italian film.
Brothers – Rated R on 2,088 screens
Tobey MaGuire stars as a Marine named Sam who’s captured by the Taliban in Afghanistan. When Sam returns to the U.S. he finds that his troubled brother and his wife, played by Jake Gyllenhaal and Natalie Portman, have become very close.
Armored – PG-13 on 1,915 screens
Guards at an armored transport security firm hatch a plot to steal millions from their own company. But, all does not go according to plan.
Transylmania – Rated R – Limited Release
In this spoof of horror films, students get a spooky education at a university located in a Transylvania castle.
Cautiously enjoy anything new!

Brothers was a great flick! I recommend it to everyone and anyone that can appreciate a good story, memorable dialogue, and intense acting by some of the current generation’s best actors. Oscar’s are predicted.
Thanks for the heads up on the Brothers movie! I may have to check it out now. Since it was in a rather limited release, there was no screening for critics in my area.
