And The Winner is….
When James Cameron won an Oscar for Titanic 12 years ago he declared – “I’m the King of the World!” As his latest film Avatar won the Best Drama Award at the Golden Globes Cameron said – “This is the best job in the world!” He then added, “I just want you to give it up for yourselves. We make entertainment for a global audience and that’s what the Golden Globes mean.”
Avatar was one of the few films or TV shows that picked up multiple prizes at the 67th Annual Golden Globes. Besides Avatar the only productions winning multiple Globes were the TV show Dexter, the film Crazy Heart, the movie Up and the TV movie Grey Gardens. They each picked up two Golden Globe awards.
As a side note, Jeff Bridges, a first time Golden Globe winner, received a standing ovation when he won Best Actor in a Drama for Crazy Heart. It’s the story of an alcoholic country singer trying to become a better man.
