2010 Razzie Award Nominations

Time For The Razzie Awards!

Transformers & Land of the Lost Lead Nominations

As a movie reviewer, for the most part swimming against the stream of Hollywood propaganda that other critics fall trap to, the Razzie Awards are somewhat of a vindication time for me. Especially when it comes to the Worst Picture category for 2010. Last year I took it on the chin from some people who couldn’t believe my distaste for G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

But, I’m happy to announce they’re up for Razzie Awards!

In what some might consider a surprise, Sandra Bullock is up for some Razzie Awards too. However, I have to admit, the movie she’s nominated for does not surprise me. Bullock received a worst actress nomination for her role in the romantic-comedy All About Steve. It’s also a contender for the Worst Picture of the year. While we did laugh at All About Steve, it certainly was not her strongest movie of the year.

In the not a surprise category for me, the ever-terrible Will Ferrell who couldn’t draw people to a theater if his life depended on it, is up for a number of Razzies. It’s too bad Ferrell wasn’t lost forever in his Land of the Lost bomb. In retrospect though, I need to take back my “ever-terrible” Will Ferrell comment. The only way to see Ferrell is as a cartoon. The only movie we’ve ever given a perfect 5 Lloyd rating to is Curious George. Ferrell plays the Man in the Yellow Hat in that movie. We liked him in that. And Elf. But, that’s it. Ferrell just needs to hang up his acting shoes.

Some things might really surprise you!

Upset Teens?

Not winning any kudos from the teen crowd, The Razzie Award board nominated some of their heart-throbs this year. The Jonas Brothers and the Twilight Saga: New Moon crew of Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner all received nominations in the poor performance category.

The 30th annual Razzies have some special categories this year too for the worst movie, actor and actress of the decade.
