Two New Movies On Big Screen
The Hollywood hype continues to spin concerning the now Oscar nominated Avatar flick. On the day it earned nine Oscar nominations, the James Cameron sci-fi flick also became the top-grossing movie in U.S. box office history. As of Tuesday, the blue people movie had pulled in $601.1 million dollars domestically. That total surpassed the $600.8 million made by Cameron’s film Titanic.
But remember, when considering those numbers one must also keep in mind that ticket prices are higher today than they were when Titanic was released in 1997. Avatar has actually sold fewer tickets than Titanic and other classic movies like Star Wars and Gone With The Wind.
So, after saying all of that, will Avatar remain the box office topper for yet another week?
I’m saying, sadly so too because I really think Avatar is a mediocre movie at best, will probably stay in the number one spot. The main reason for the continued #1 reign spot – Oscar hype and not much opening to push it from the number one spot.
