Family-Friendly Movie Survey

Family-Friendly Movie Survey

The Survey Says…..

New Survey Reveals Top Family Film

I would of course be remiss if I ignored this latest survey. Since the focus of this site centers around family-friendly films, this survey is worth mentioning. It is no secret that much of what Hollywood force feeds moviegoers these days under the guise of family-friendly, are really very far away from such a category. Of course it’s also no secret that in my opinion the entire MPAA rating system needs to be revamped to include at least one new category – M for Mature.

If it’s good enough for video games, it’s good enough for movies!

Top Ten Family-Friendly Movies Survey

A new survey of more than 2,500 people by Radio Times, the British TV, radio and film listings magazine, searched for what people consider to be the best family films on the market. The survey results found…

  1. E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial – 1982
  2. The Wizard of Oz – 1939
  3. Mary Poppins – 1964
  4. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang – 1968
  5. Toy Story – 1995
  6. Shrek – 2001
  7. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory – 1971
  8. Back to the Future – 1985
  9. The Jungle Book – 1967
  10. The Sound of Music – 1965

I’m not sure if people had a choice of movies or if they simply searched their own memory-banks to come up with the voting pattern. But, the only movie I might question as being family-friendly on that list is The Wizard of Oz. I know too many parents who have stories of their children having nightmares after watching that movie.

How about you? Do you have a list of what you would say are your favorite family-friendly movies? If so, leave me a comment here so others can see your favs too!
