Will Ferrell Be A Box Office Flop Again?

Two new ‘not so good’ movies open this weekend.

Another new weekend is here and that means it’s time for new movies to hit the big screen. After a run of some great movies, this weekend looks ‘not so good’. First off there’s the latest offering from under-achiever Will Ferrell entitled The Other Guys. His latest movie, with co-star Mark Wahlberg, is nothing more than sophomoric juvenile humor better left on the editing room floor.

Then there’s the continued Hollywood fascination with 3D movies. I just can’t figure this one out. Many are hoping the whole 3D fascination will fade very soon. Personally, I’m getting tired of screening movies having to put those dorky glasses on over top of my glasses.

Yes, we’ve come a long way since the cardboard cutout glasses, but give me a break! It’s time to stop the 3D madness!

Making the 3D madness even worse for – this weekend filmmakers have taken a series that should have ended two movies ago as they offer up yet another Step Up movie! Ugh! First off, the Step Up franchise should just die. Secondly, does anyone really want to see another Step Up movie in 3D?

I have a feeling Inception will top the Box Office again.

New Movies On The Big Screen

The Other Guys – PG-13 on 3,651 screens
Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg play “the other guys” in the New York Police Department. They’re two detectives who are all but ignored until they take on, or should we actually say ‘stumble into’, a big case. Samuel L. Jackson, Dwayne Johnson, Eva Mendes and Michael Keaton also star.

Step Up in 3D – PG-13 on 2,435 screens
In the third film in the Step Up series, a group of New York street dancers come together to compete in a hip-hop dance competition.

Personally, if you’re looking for a movie to catch this weekend my two suggestions are…

While non of the above choices fall into the family-friendly category, they are worth seeing. They’re also much better than the new movies offered up for this weekend. Salt has really slid under the radar as many believe it’s nothing more than an Angelina Jolie eye-candy flick. Such is not the case. If you have not see Salt yet, it is worth it.

Enjoy the show! (Or at least find a show to enjoy)
